President’s Message

Dear Members and Visitors,

It gives me great pleasure to address you as President of Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumers’ Association. As we navigate an ever-changing energy landscape, our shared commitment to affordable, reliable and sustainable power remains our guiding light.

Over the past 27 years our association has worked tirelessly to represent your interests-engaging with utilities, regulatory bodies and policymakers to ensure that the high-tension consumers receive fair treatment, improved infrastructure and transparent billing. We have pushed for greater efficiency, sought opportunities for renewable integration and, promoted best practices in energy management.

Looking ahead our priorities include strengthening our collective voice in energy policy discussions, supporting modern technologies that enhance efficiency and reduce costs and build partnerships across industries to share knowledge and create synergies.

Your active participation is our greatest strength. I encourage each member to engage in dialogue, suggest improvements and contribute to our initiatives. Together we can shape a future where high-tension consumers thrive in a fair, competitive and sustainable environment.

Thank you for your trust, cooperation and commitment. Let us move forward with determination and optimism.

Warm Regards,
L.Santhosh
President

It is an honor to address you as President of Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumers’ Association. Thank you for your continued trust, active participation and constructive input-your involvement is the foundation of our collective progress.

The new draft National Electricity Policy 2026 presents a significant opportunity for high-tension consumers. Its focus on clearer regulatory frameworks, investment in transmission and distribution, and facilitation of open access can improve supply reliability, reduce outages, and provide more predictable long‑term pricing. Provisions encouraging energy efficiency and renewable integration can lower operating costs and strengthen business continuity over time.

At the same time, members should be prepared for short‑term impacts:
potential tariff adjustments as cross‑subsidies are rationalized, added compliance and metering requirements, and transitional uncertainty while new rules and infrastructure are implemented. The benefits will depend on fair, phased implementation and sensible safeguards to protect large consumers from abrupt cost shocks.

As your President, I will engage proactively with regulators, utilities, and other stakeholders to:

  • Advocate for gradual transitions and clear timelines
  • Seek financial or technical support for meter and compliance upgrades
  • Push for transparent tariff mechanisms and reliable open‑access procedures
  • Monitor implementation to ensure equitable treatment of HT consumers

I encourage all members to share concerns and practical experiences so we can present a united, evidence‑based case. Together we will work to convert the policy’s promise into tangible, lasting benefits for our sector.

L.Santhosh
President
